Chickens on the Roof LLC

Recent Consulting (Summer & Fall 2025)

My recent work has included a design review (UI/UX) for an early literacy portal; supporting a multi-year website strategy for a medical non-profit; teaching a masterclass in game design for CS students in Nairobi; R&D creation with cutting-edge generative AI video for a US for-profit educational publisher; ad hoc consulting for two AI-startups; portfolio representation for several animation and software companies; web support for a community non-profit; and devising, writing and co-producing two accredited, one-hour webinars for Minecraft Education in AI literacy and cybersecurity.

I'm currently also producing an animated explainer for forthcoming technology legislation and starting work to devise and lead a game design project to help Alaska Native kids learn Athabaskan languages.

Plus I've been doing some pro bono work in community literacy in Boston and supporting media coverage of a school in India serving vulnerable kids.

My LLC is registered with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts COMMBUYS, with the federal System for Award Management (SAM) and with Microsoft's SupplierWeb.

EIN available on request.

More Than You Need to Know:

Independent creative executive and versatile producer of digital content of all kinds, I am a former Senior Executive Producer and Director of Digital Partnerships at WGBH Educational Foundation (GBH), with over 25 years in digital media and educational technology.

I am an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning executive focused on building impactful, accessible content for all ages. To be honest, I'm also reasonably good at making and doing things; my tool-belt includes executive strategy, digital transformation, grant management, and strategic expansion, with a focus on information literacy, games, animation, AI and accessible digital learning. I'm not good with actual tools. Or plumbing.

I have led cross-functional inhouse teams of 50+ creators, developers, and educators, managing multimillion-dollar budgets and scaling content production to award-winning standards.

I have secured major funding from federal agencies, and built partnerships with Amazon, Google, Comcast, Microsoft, and many in higher ed including Harvard, UMD, Dartmouth College, George Mason, and UW.

As digital lead on PBS KIDS series (Curious George, Arthur, Molly of Denali, Design Squad, Between the Lions, and Zoom), my educational web, app, and games projects have reached millions of children and families.

I have developed bilingual literacy apps, multi-platform STEM projects, internet safety initiatives, and AI-driven media literacy curricula, and developed accessibility tools for children with disabilities.

As a creator, I launched intellectual properties including Ruff Ruffman: Humble Media Genius, Search It Up, and the Fin, Fur and Feather Bureau of Investigation. I have developed AR, VR and interactive K12 for NASA projects and developed games as a 2P producer for the Amazon Glow.

I advise on emerging educational technology projects, supporting early-stage development, research, and market positioning for organizations and startups. My research and publications focus on the impact of digital content on the lives of young people.

I am an alum affiliate of Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society.

My work with colleagues has earned multiple awards, including two Emmys, two Peabodys, a Prix Jeunesse, and a Japan Prize.

I have presented our work at events such as ITK Finland, Connected Learning, Games4Change, and the Sandbox Summit, and my TEDx and TED-Ed talks are available online.

And I've worked with all these good people and organizations:
